Green Detox Cucumber Mint (Print Version)

Cucumber, mint, lime and agave blended, strained and served over ice for a crisp, hydrating agua fresca with bright citrus notes.

# What You Need:

→ Vegetables & Herbs

01 - 2 large cucumbers, peeled and coarsely chopped
02 - 1 packed cup fresh mint leaves, firmly packed
03 - about 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, optional

→ Citrus

04 - Juice of 2 limes (about 3 tablespoons)

→ Sweetener

05 - 2 tablespoons agave syrup (or substitute honey or maple syrup)

→ Liquids

06 - 4 cups cold filtered water
07 - 1 cup ice cubes, plus extra for serving

→ Garnish

08 - Cucumber slices
09 - Lime wedges
10 - Sprigs of fresh mint

# Directions:

01 - Peel and coarsely chop the cucumbers. Remove any coarse stems from the mint and measure the cilantro if using.
02 - Place the chopped cucumbers, mint, cilantro (optional), lime juice, agave syrup, cold water and 1 cup ice into a blender.
03 - Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform in texture.
04 - Strain the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large pitcher, pressing or squeezing to extract as much liquid as possible and leaving the pulp behind.
05 - Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity—add a little more agave or lime juice as needed. If you prefer a sparkling finish, stir in chilled sparkling water at this point.
06 - Pour over ice into glasses and garnish each serving with cucumber slices, lime wedges and mint sprigs. Best consumed the same day for peak freshness.

# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • It feels like a spa day in a glass and nobody ever guesses how fast it comes together.
  • The fresh flavors and vibrant green color always spark a little envy at the table.
02 -
  • If you skip straining, the drink turns out chunky—not quite as refreshing as intended.
  • Adding the ice before blending keeps everything chilled and stops it from tasting watery later.
03 -
  • Be patient with the straining—slow and steady yields the clearest, brightest agua fresca.
  • A touch of extra lime at serving lifts all the flavors up, especially if making ahead.
